The Master Cleanse (MC) regimen, created by Stanley Burroughs has been used by a lot of people for colon cleansing, and weight loss in particular.
For all you dieters, please keep in mind that there are few shortcuts or magical ways and that fasting, master cleanses, etc were designed to help people lose weight. The purpose of fasting is to make digestion easier on the body, so that the energy can be used to re-energize and heal your body. Stop focusing on your weight displayed on your scale – that does not mean a thing. Everyone seems to just care about the numbers. It’s not about losing weight, folks. It’s about feeling better and being healthier.
So, in the end you are just delusional if you believe fasting, or doing the master cleanse will help you lose weight and keep it off forever. If you fast for weight loss, you’re just setting yourself up for a lot of eating disorders. However, if you do the master cleanse and understand that it will help cleanse your body so that your digestive system will be more efficient – and that weight loss is just a natural side effect, then you understand what cleansing is all about. Anything else is unacceptable.
Remember, if you resort back to your old lifestyle (eating whatever you want and not working out), you will gain the weight back very easily. Fasting simply slows down your metabolism. So the main reason why fasting causes you to lose weight is because the body goes into over-drive mode and decreases its metabloci rate. You need to incorporate a good workout routine and start eating healthier if you realistically want to lose weight.
Because all types of fasting are simply cleanses, your body will do whatever it needs to do the most first. Often it will not be losing excess weight, and there will be periods where you might not lose any weight so do yourselves a favor – and stop looking at the numbers and press on knowing that you are doing yourselves a world of good and that you are attacking the causes of obesity.
The first few days, I was a wreck. I felt like crap and was cranky, had a horiffic headache and my stomach was growling. I kept taking it one day at a time, but it just got worse.
Another thing is that even at day 10 I was still producing some messy Bowel Movement’s – almost black water, shreds of stuff, chunks, ect! YUCK. So I have decided to switch to a juice cleanse as well as potasium broth and switched to using Colonix instead of the Master Cleanse.
I had another Master Cleanse later that year, but it still produced mediocre results. I would suggest using a better colon cleanser such as
, or P&B; shakesrather than do this regimen.
If you do decide to do the Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs, you might condider increasing the number of lemonade drinks on the 4th and 5th days to help you through the transition more slowly. Or you might time the first day of the cleanse so the fourth day is on your weekend, so you can sleep the day away. Make sure to keep water by the bed, so that you don’t get dehydrated.
