Prune Juice for Constipation
Method 1: Prune Juice + Apple Juice
In the morning before you eat breakfast, drink 2-3 cups of prune juice. After 30 minutes, drink one cup of apple juice. Then an hour later drink another cup of apple juice. Be prepared to head to the bathroom after you drink the prune juice and your first glass of apple juice. The combination of both usually makes your bowels move, and you'll have a bowel movement soon afterwards.
Method 2: Prune Juice + Oat Milk
Another home remedy with prune juice includes oat milk and prune juice. Make a drink with 8 ounces of oat milk and 3 ounces of prune juice. Or you an make a 50/50 mix depending on how much you like the taste of prunes. Drink this first thing in the morning and you should have a bowel movement soon afterwards.
Method 3: Prunce Juice + Apple Sauce
One last home remedy with prune juice includes 1 cup apple sauce, 1 cup unprocessed bran, and 3/4 cup of prune juice. Mix them all together well into a pasty, stiff glop consistency, almost like peanut butter. After you mix it, it should be refrigerated. Take 1-2 tablespoons of this daily and wash it down with a full glass of water.
Can prune juice treat chronic constipation?
No, that's why I mentioned earlier, it can treat it temporarily. But chronic constipation is a problem that is caused by a clogged colon. You've probably heard of a "colon cleanse". Basically, you need to a do a colon cleanse for 2-3 months to remove those toxins from your colon, so you can normal, healthy bowel movements.
Most people don't realize if you're constipated all the time, it means there's toxins in your colon, and those toxins that remain in the colon for years and years eventually cause disease and serious health problems. So, if you're always constipated, we suggest you do an internal cleanse as soon as possible.
One of the best products for doing a cleanse is DrNatura Colonix. I used it to treat my constipation back in 2006, and after 2-3 months, I had 1 bowel movement per day, instead of 1 every 2-3 days (nasty, I know).
What are the benefits of prune juice?

The prune juice contains the substance dihydrophenylisatin, which is responsible for the laxative action. They are also a greeat source of iron and good to take if you are anemic or low in iron.
How much prune juice can one drink in 1 day?
You can drink a cup or 2 every week to treat the occasional case of constipation as we said. If you drink it almost everyday, it's not going to endanger your health by any means - you'll just get diarrhea :) In general, we recommend just 1 cup a day, nothing more. But as we mentioned before, chronic constipation is a sign there are toxins stuck in your colon, and that you need to consider doing a colon cleanse with DrNatura Colonix, or making your own fiber shakes.

Gerber makes a good brand of prune juice that lots of moms use to treat their baby's constipation. You can find it here on Amazon. We recommend buying in bulk (10 packs or more) since it always seems to be sold out often.
Tips when using prune juice
1. If you add prune juice to your diet, do not drink as much as when you had been constipated. Drink half a glass in the morning and maybe half a glass in the evening.
2. Diluted prune juice may also be given to a baby who is experiencing constipation, if the baby is older than two months of age. What you want to do is give the baby one ounce of prune juice diluted with one ounce of water, twice a day. As the constipation improves you can cut back. Talk to your doctor first if your baby is two months old or younger.
3. Drinking prune juice is a definite way to stop mild constipation. Remember also that you can't drink too much prune juice or it will have a reverse affect on you. You will not have constipation, but instead you will have recurring diarrhea.
