Many people, including me have had a lot of success with MediFast. The only way to not lose weight is to follow the diet incorrectly. So I decide to make a short guide on how to follow the MediFast program, and lose up to 20 lbs in 1 month.
Before The Program:
1) Get rid of all your cravings2) Talk with your friends about your diet change.
Consider getting a friend or 2 to try the Medifast program with you. It helps to have something along for support!
3) Set out a detailed timeline.
Determine when you are going to start the program, and when you will end it. Also, consider what you are going to do in special occasions such as parties and stuff
First 3 Days
The first three or so days of the diet are very challenging. You will be hungry, and your body will need to adjust to the program. The first week may be tough for some people, but don't fet: after a week most people feel very confident about their weight loss, and they experience absolutely no hunger. If you get past the first week, you are well on your way!
The Diet Program
You need to spread out when you consume the shakes. As a rule of thumb, you should have a shake every 3 hours, and the first 3 by 2:30 PM. You should drink 3 shakes a day, but if you take a supplement, that will replace 1 shake. Don't overeat those MediFast bars! Just have 1 a day!
Here is a basic schedule most MediFast'ers follow:
8am- first shake
11am-second shake
2pm-third shake
5pm- fourth shake or meal supplement, or a Lean and Green Meal
8pm-fifth shake or supplement
11pm-an additional shake
The Full Fast
Some people opt to take the full fast program, which means consuming ONLY the shakes and the supplements. A regular day includes consuming 5 shakes and Medifast supplements such as soups, and bars.The ModiFied Fast
A modified fast, on the other hand means eating 1 Lean And Green meal per day, as well as 4 shakes or supplements a day. What is a Lean And Green Meal?
It includes:
- 4 ounces of lean protein with no fat or sauces. This can include chicken, lean pork, beef or fish.
- A half cup of low-carb veggies.
Misc. Food:
These are stuff you can eat anytime during the day. Don't overeat on these though:
Bouillon -2 cups/day
Dill Pickles- 2/day
Celery Sticks dipped in salt- 3 stalks/day
Medifast Fast Soups
Medifast Crackers- 1 pack/day
Diet Sodas
Crystal Light (a fav, and great flavoring for shakes!)
Sugar-free Jello- small serving
How Much Weight Can You Lose?
The scale will fluctuate from day to day. All sorts of things affect it, including stress, not enough water, a little more salt, etc. Some people who have been very committed to the program can handle seeing a 2lb. increase, knowing it's just part of the pattern and it will go away in a day or two. For others, it ruins their day. Realize that fluctuations WILL occur, but will lose lots of weight as long as you stick with the program.
In the long-term, you can lose up to 20 lbs a month. This is not rare - many people who undergo the program experience losing over 40 lbs in a course of a few months. It's possible if you stick to the program strictly, and follow the guidelines! Remember, after the first week, the ride should be smooth, and you will be well on your way to permanent weight loss!
